The Mortal Messiah instructed His disciples to pray, “Thy Kingdom come” so that His “will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” There is a pattern, a culture, an order to the Kingdom of God and His Christ. It is His government based upon His laws which are designed for the protection of liberty and peace for all of mankind.
This perfect form of government has been the pursuit of God’s people in every dispensation. “prophets have looked to our day”
"And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever."
Daniel 2:44
Joseph Smith explains: "There is a distinction between the Church of God and the Kingdom of God. The laws of the Kingdom are not designed to effect our salvation hereafter. It is an entire, distinct, and separate government. The Church is a spiritual matter and a spiritual kingdom; but the kingdom which Daniel saw was not a spiritual kingdom, but was designed to be got up for the safety and salvation of the saints by protecting them in their religious rights and worship...The literal kingdom of God and the Church of God are two distinct things." ( Minutes p. 128)
John Taylor: What do we mean by the Kingdom of God? There is the Church of God and the Kingdom of God. The Church, of course, refers more particularly to spiritual things and the Kingdom to temporal rule and government and management and to temporal affairs. (JD 20:166)
The Pilgrims and our Founding Fathers set out to build the Kingdom of God in their charters and the Constitution. They were designed to protect the God given rights of property, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
In a revelation given to John Taylor in 1882, the Lord revealed the purpose of the Kingdom of God: "I have introduced my Kingdom and my government, even the Kingdom of God,...for the establishment of my rule, for the introduction of my law, for the protection of my Church, and for the maintenance, promulgation and protection of civil and religious liberty in this nation and throughout the world; and all men of every nation, color and creed shall yet be protected and shielded thereby." (June 27 1882 UPR, p. 133)
This is a political kingdom which must be established in the Latter-days preparatory to the Second Coming of the Lord, who will then usher in the Millennial Age of the world. Some teach and believe that the Kingdom will not be set up upon the earth until after the Savior comes, that He will bring it with Him, and then it will be organized upon the earth during the Millennium. However, the scriptures and prophets say otherwise.
The Lord covenanted with Enoch that He would, “gather out mine elect from the four quarters of the earth, unto a place which I shall prepare, an Holy City, that my people may gird up their loins, and be looking forth for the time of my coming; for there shall be my tabernacle, and it shall be called Zion, a New Jerusalem. (Moses 7:62-63 See 10th Article of Faith)June 27 1882 UPR, p. 133)
That city of Zion, the New Jerusalem, will be the central stake of The Kingdom of God and the seat of God’s government.
Just as Washington, D.C. is the central seat of government for the United States, each state being a sovereign state under the Constitution, the Kingdom of God will be the “Constitutional” government for the nations of the earth. It is for the protection of Life, Liberty, Property, and the pursuit of happiness. It will protect the natural rights of all the inhabitants of the earth with Jesus Christ as their King and His appointed ministers governing according to His laws.
The Kingdom of God and His Christ will be built by His appointed servants. So, when we talk about building the Kingdom of God, we call out all believers to become subject to Christ and His laws, to become the “Strength of My House” (D&C 105) by sanctifying themselves in body, mind and spirit.
We invite you to become educated about the Kingdom of God, to be true disciples of Christ, build righteous families, and join with like minded people to become a Zion minded society of people from whom God can choose His warriors.
The Lord needs warriors; men who are willing to pledge their allegiance to the Kingdom of our God and His Christ. If you are such a man, Join "The Strength" and be a part of a community of Zion minded men who are dedicated to sanctifying themselves to be better fathers, sons, and warriors for Christ.
